An Unexploded Ordinance (UXO) survey had to be performed before a sand extraction area situated about 20 kilometres North of Ameland could be taken in to service.
Periplus delivered 4 hydrographic surveyors to Geo Plus who used their Geo Focus survey vessel for the job. The vessel towed two magnetometers that passively measure the earth’s magnetic field. Disturbances in that field are potentially unexploded bombs (UXO’s).
