Deep Panuke Gas Development, Canada - 2008
Last January Periplus Consultancy BV provided a client representative to Allseas Marine Contracters (AMC) onboard the MV AnitCosti offshore Nova Scotia, Canada for the Deep Panuke Gas Development Project.
EnCana Corporation is developing its Deep Panuke gas prospect, approximately 250km southeast of Halifax and 44km to the West of Sable Island. The field water depth is approximately 40 to 45m. The Deep Panuke project is based on an initial five satellite subsea production wells and one injection well (for acid gas disposal) individually tied back to a leased Production Field Centre. The export gas will be sales quality and exported via a new 176km, 22-inch gas pipeline to Goldboro, Nova Scotia.
Due to the change of the project development concept, during the project re-examination, some additional geophysical and geotechnical data were required. The objectives of this survey program are to acquire geophysical and benthic information. The Geophysical Pipeline Route Survey was conducted utilizing multibeam and singlebeam echosounders, side scan sonar, subbottom profiler, magnetometer, grab samplers and video imagery, all positioned using multiple differential global positioning systems. The MV Anticosti, stationed in St. John’s, Newfoundland, was used as the survey platform.
